TCK Solar's enormous success in Round 1 & 2 of Solar for Apartments

TCK Solar’s unique, $0 out-of-pocket offering turned out to be a huge hit in Round 1 of the Solar for Apartments grant, funded by both the Vic State Government and Federal Government.
As planned, the free 1kw of solar each, made Owners Corporation approval super easy. But it turned out to be a little bit too ambitious. In Round 2 we were still able to deliver many projects at no-out-of-pocket cost, but on a case-by-case basis some projects required additional funding. In many cases this funding was able to be provided with some residents purchasing additional panels. The generous grant for apartments still kept costs to a minimum and helped many to access solar when it was previously out of their reach.
Timo Karnath, Director & Founder of TCK Solar, says – “a lot of solar companies simply don’t have the capacity to touch jobs like these. Its not simple to install on apartments and a lot of solar companies shy away from the task. There can be 50 individual systems within one building, often with many multiple sizes and panel configurations. Fortunately for us, we’ve spent the last 15 years custom designing every system we do, this kind of thing is our bread and butter.”
In Round 1 & 2, TCK Solar delivered 31 solar for apartments projects between Oct 2024 and Oct 2025, helping 408 residences reduce their reliance on costly grid power
“We’re really pleased with the result, it’s been a new area for us, but our expertise and own in-house expert installers really helped set us up for success here. It really was quite perfectly suited to our experience”, Timo says.
